Transsiberian or Tokyo Godfathers?
Awww, Danielle.
kaffeineme:
I would say that the good majority of “grown ups” feel that way. That fumbling around, making decisions, dealing with the consequences, feeling like you’re doing it wrong, wondering where the hell the instruction manual is feeling? That’s life.
You’re doing it right. I promise.
I’ll second that and hope you feel better soon. I can’t wait for you to join me in the sexy...
Thank you.

It was August 3rd when I started this blog. I didn’t know what it was going to be. All that I knew was that I desperately needed to find a little island of creativity and freedom to provide me some respite from what was turning out to be the worst year of my life. Little did I know that the year would soon get even worse, and little did I know how important tumblr would...
December 2009
I just saw the ghost of tumbleweeds present
go by my doorway. That must mean it’s about time for me to close up shop here at the office.
Off to see a photo exhibit before I retire to my humble abode and check back in with all my Tumblr buddies. I might even tell you a bedtime story.

I bet I get along great with 2010
Once in a blue moon
you say you love me, once is a blue moon you say you care. Or so the song from Little Mary Sunshine goes. That’s a fun little musical I did many moons ago, blue and otherwise.
And I knew that a blue moon occurs when there are two full moons in a months, as some of we Tumblrs will have tonight. But I just learned that in ye olde Farmer’s Almanac is actually meant the fourth full moon...

I don't make new year's resolutions
I’m a work in progress all year long.
Maybe I’m just not organized enough to have all the things I want to work on line up so nicely with the calendar. Or maybe I’m just being contrary.

You know who else likes science?
Neil Patrick Harris. I was working at one of the information stations at last year’s World Science Festival and he came up and ask for directions. My boothmate and I did the double take look at each other after he left to verify that we concurred that it was in fact him. lol Sorry Neil, but even cooler was meeting Brian Greene.
Save the dates June 6 - 10 for the 2010 festival.

A follow up to my previous video that explained what Tumblarity was and how it was derived.
This time I look at the Tumblarity rankings by tag and share something that you probably already knew.

Today’s video is sponsored by the number 3. Not only is Ag three times funnier than Will Ferrell (Tumblarity scores don’t lie) but wellthatsjustgreat has moved up...

a paper published by Eric Mazur of Harvard
Abstract:
In a recent article in The Physics Teacher, Michael Sobel claims (as do many teachers) that physics is in a “special category of hard” and is usually taken only by a “certain sort of very bright student.” The appealing, yet suspiciously conceited, notion that physics is only for smart or...
Yes, I'm eating pumpkin pie for breakfast
notactuallyme:
WHAT? I’m cleaning out the fridge. And besides, pumpkin is a vegetable (sort of), so it’s good for you. Pumpkin has lots of vitamins and fiber. It’s like having a bowl of high-fiber cereal.
With whipped cream.
Don’t forget that cinnamon is healthy and I’m sure there’s some calcium in that whipped cream for healthy teeth and bones. And if nothing else I bet...

Working on a new video

Like all of mine I’m trying to work on different things with this one.
This one involved figuring out iMovie 09 AND Final Cut Express…
Then that got scaled back to just iMovie 09 (FCE not as intuitive as I’d hoped!)…
Now I just lost an hour with Apple support…the fixed they issue but my creative flow…she is broken! :-(
Going to exercise and hopefully find the muse on an...

West 30s, NYC 2009 by me
beautiful
You have the eye of a photographer and the curiosity and appreciation of a tourist. I really enjoy seeing NYC and Nola through your eyes.
That is such a lovely way of describing my work and feels apt. I am insatiably curious. I’m also so humbled by the feedback I’ve gotten from so many of...

It’s interesting. There’s been a lot of posts about 2009, some angry … but most dismissive.
I am thankful for 2009 as much as I am glad to see it go.
I am thankful for many things.
For my health:
After my breakdown in 2008 I slipped from dysthemia into deep depression, and I was able to finally control it in 2009
My Colon Cancer was removed

Elementary
Actually I could title a review of the new Sherlock Holmes movie Six Characters in Search of a Genre. I’ll admit I was a little travel weary when I saw it but it was disjointed. It had many trademark Guy Ritchie-isms and they worked in places but overall it seemed like he tried to pile the entire canon of Doyle into one film which was clearly a setup for a sequel.
Is it an action film? Yes....

Love the rain and that’s a welcomed face in rain or shine. And, yes, I did just have pizza for lunch. If I’d known you were coming I’d have saved you a seat.
It all depends
on the type of drink whether it gets a bendy straw or a straight one. Variety is great. Everyone can suck on what they like. What? Hey, I didn’t start it. He did.

yeah, that was intentionally omitted. I didn’t want anyone chasing you with a golf club to give you your birthday whacks. :P
Help Me, Blues Lovers!
monkeyfrog:
This is driving me nuts (shut it). An old timey blues song, which I think was covered by John Mellencamp at some point, about going to prison and waiting in prison and possibly being a dog or something? It is really short and kinda slow and dirty sounding.
WTF is it??
Hmm, only thing that comes to mind is Ol’ Red, originally done by George Jones. Here’s the lyrics from...

As we passed the Twilight display I asked if we were on Team Edward or Jacob (hey, just cause I haven’t read the books or seen the movies, I don’t live in a cave). She...

Modern day mythos
I just finished reading Dave Crenshaw’s The Myth of Multitasking: How “Doing It All” Gets Nothing Done. It’s a quick read and worth the time if for nothing other than one of the easiest and best exercises I’ve seen for showing how inefficient multitasking really is.
