This is an anchor on the U-505, the German submarine that was captured and now sits most impressively in the Chicago Museum on Science and Industry. After all the wonderful people, the sub was probably next on Rick’s list of things to see when we were in Chicago last month. I was going to make sure we got there, and we did. He works hard and is truly one of the most kind-hearted people in the world and he deserves to have some fun and to go see cool stuff. And so I am setting out to give him a really cool weekend since Monday is not only Memorial Day but also his birthday. Last night we saw and heard about deconstructing Twinkies. Tonight we go to Macbeth starring Alan Cumming. There will also be an array of other adventures, but some are surprises so stay tuned. I’ll be pulling up anchor here at work soon and can get this birthday weekend afloat.
Friday Flowers #1
Next week I’ll be down on Wall Street with thousands of others walking/running to make our hearts healthy and help raise awareness and funds so others can get heart healthy too. I’d appreciate your support, whether it’s a donation, a heart healthy recipe you’d like to share, your favorite way to keep your heart healthy or just a heart-felt wish of support.

“I should like to know the jeweller that made it, darling. This lily is lithe and supple like an iris. Oh, it is elegant, magnificent, and cruel. Have you noticed, my love, that beautiful jewels have an air of magnificent cruelty?” ~ Anatole France, The Red Lily (Le Lys Rouge)
