So the meeting that was supposed to be yesterday and was rescheduled for today has been postponed until next week (this is my so not shocked face} because senior boss (SB) had an appointment to get her hair cut today. Coworker asked her why she’s doing it so early since we know it’s because her twins are having their b’nai mitzvah next Saturday. SB said she was hoping that the hairdresser would come to her house next week. Coworker asked if she had arranged that already. SB said no. Well, it is a religious occasion. Maybe she’s expecting a miracle.

Meeting in a room with a view of a New Year’s Eve gone by
I conduct a weekly status meeting at the direction of my senior boss (SB). It’s weekly except when it’s not. Like the past couple of months since it has been review writing season around these here parts. So I think we’ve had maybe one meeting and SB wasn’t there so I went over stuff with junior boss (JB) and the others. I don’t need status meetings to stay on top of things. Whatever.
Yesterday morning I sent an email saying I wouldn’t be in until noon on Friday because I’m going to a industry meeting on a topic near and dear to SB. She wrote back happy as a clam that I’m going. End of day yesterday I suggested cancelling today’s status meeting and she told me “Oh no, we have to get back on track.” Fine. Whatever.
So today we all go sit in the room not expecting SB to arrive because she sits right next door to me and I knew a supervisor came up to discuss an unhappy review recipient. But we sat for a few minutes chatting before JB came in. I then announced that I was ending the meeting because there was no point in meeting without SB.
SB’s assistant stopped in annoyed that SB continues to blow off scheduled meetings (oh mine aren’t the only ones). She goes into SB and comes back and says SB wants to reschedule for tomorrow at 11am. My response. Whatever. Three problems with that. One of the people on the team won’t be in because she works at home on Fridays. SB is always late and may only be arriving by 11am. And I won’t be in until noon as explained above. Probably right on time if we actually meet.
