I found this toy in my friend’s yard yesterday. It had clearly floated there during the recent floods and had ended up feet, yards, blocks from home. A little runaway engine. A little engine that could be … someone’s favorite … missed by someone … part of a set now forever incomplete.
Or it could just be symbolic of the loss of innocence felt by so many 10 years ago today.
Or it could be the engine of change. It could be the one that moves us forward. Transports us together beyond the storm. It could be the engine of hope.
