The exhibit is at the Morris Museum in Morristown, NJ through February 20.

Visitors to the Morris Museum this winter will be delighted by a new exhibition featuring over 25 awe-inspiring and thought-provoking large-scale sculptures created out of LEGO® bricks by artist Nathan Sawaya. While the exhibition is on view, a special area will be set up where visitors, inspired by Sawaya’s work, can build their own fantastic LEGO creations.

They don’t allow pictures inside but the The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum is not to be missed on a trip to Austin. It’s three floors let you experience the history of Texas from the ground up, literally. You start downstairs exploring the “Land” before it was known as Texas and then more the second floor where the “Identity” of Texas is formed and then the top floor (which we missed because we ran out of time) takes you through the “Opportunity” that Texas affords. It’s beautifully constructed with multimedia and some interactivity for kids of all ages.

“Get Closer is a free photography contest held by The Metropolitan Museum of Art. We invite you to submit a photoof one detail in a single work of art from the Met’s permanent collection that captures your imagination, along with a photo of the full work of art and your own brief text (approximately 50 words) describing why you find that detail compelling. The contest will take place February 25 through April 8, 2011. The Museum will then select five winners, whose entries will appear on the Met’s website. Each winner will receive a one-year Individual Museum Membership.”
